The 11u All-Star nine game winning streak in the all-star tournament came to an end Sunday night in extra innings at the hands of Danville Little League 4 to 3.
In the top of the first it looked as though Los Gatos would continue their offensive onslaught from the night before as Brixton Mentz-Bonnefield doubled followed by a Skyler Levine walk with just one out. Danville quickly righted their pitching and stranded both runners.
Both offenses were quiet for the first two innings as Skyler Levine put together a solid start with 3ks and 0 runs. In the bottom of the third Los Gatos got in trouble early with a lead off single and two unfortunate errors in the infield that could have ended the inning. Danville capitalized on the errors and scored 3 unearned runs to take a 3-0 lead.
The lead was short lived, however, as Los Gatos continued to battle as they have all tournament and came storming back in the top of the 4th. With one out, TJ Lombardi hit a solo HR to left field, followed by 3 straight hits. Kyle Matar singled and scored on Aarav Chugh’s double to right field. Jimmy Mort singled to left scoring Chugh from third tying the game at 3.
The game remained tied into the bottom of the 7th when Danville took advantage of a leadoff walk and consecutive singles to drive in the winning run. Danville won 4-3.
