2021 Opening Day
The 2021 Los Gatos Little League spring season began on Saturday with three games at Blossom Hill / Baggerly Park. It was a beautiful day for baseball as the previous week's high temperatures cooled down for a perfect day at the ballpark.
The Majors season kicked off with the Pirates taking on the Giants at 10am. Both teams came out swinging and put runners on base early, but the Giants were able to pull ahead for good and seal their 14-6 victory to take them to 1-0 to start the season.
In the afternoon game, the Padres jumped out to an early lead on the A's powered by timely hitting and solid pitching. The A's made a late game rally to pull within a few runs, but in the end the Padres held on for a 7-2 victory.
The sole AA game saw the A's battle the Red Sox in a high scoring matchup full of big hits. The Red Sox took the opener by a score of 21-16.
It was incredible to see the Los Gatos community get back into some type of normalcy, even with masks and socially distancing. The families of the players were thankful to see their kids on the field, and the kids were excited to see the scoreboard light up as they took the field.
We'll see more action on Saturday, April 10th, as we resume games in Majors and AA. The full schedule will open up with all divisions on Saturday, April 17th.
