Los Gatos Little League Field Instructions
For
Managers and Coaches

Our fields are more than just where our kids play baseball, their condition is a direct reflection on the Los Gatos Baseball Community. Positive sportsmanship on the field is the responsibility of our managers, coaches and parents; being a role model for field care is the same.

Stop in your tracks, pick up that gum wrapper and put it in the trash. The kids are watching.

Overview

Managers and coaches are responsible for the following instructions by field, involving players and parents in these activities (where appropriate and with proper instruction) is encouraged.

IMPORTANT: do not drag or rake materials from the infield into the grass. Infield materials retain moisture, when field materials are inadvertently dragged into the grass the water from sprinklers will not reach the grass and it will die.

·        Do not use a drag on baselines (Baggerly and Balzer) – only rake

·        Do not use drag on home plate area (Baggerly and Balzer) – only rake

NOTE: pitchers mounds and batters boxes are high-wear locations. Keep them covered to prevent the elements from unnecessary wear & tear. Following instructions to fill, wet and tamp divots only takes 5-10 minutes yet makes a HUGE POSITIVE IMPACT over the season.

YOU ARE A REPRESENTATIVE TO THE COMMUNITY: dogs are not allowed on any field and if one of our friendly neighbors missed the sign or doesn’t know, a polite reminder is appropriate. Don’t be a jerk.

BE REASONABLE AND RESPONSIBLE: if you arrive at a field and it’s a mess… kids hop fences to play and the previous team has no fault. HOWERVER, if bases are left out and mound/plate not covered from the previous team – PLEASE NOTIFY FIELD CAPITAN and/or FIELD DIRECTOR. Again, don’t be a jerk.
