The Reds' bats got hot immediately by scoring four runs in the first inning. Notable contributions from Tiger Bartlett and Cade Hansen, who delivered one of his two eventual doubles for the game.
The Reds bats went cold in the second inning with strong pitching from The Jays' Mason Lucq.
In the middle innings, there were a number of excellent defensive plays by both teams keeping the score in range, including catchers from both sides, Ryder Davis and Hunter Zeid, throwing runners out at second. Luke Willerer and Tre Caruso both contributed strong pitching performances to maintain the shutout.
The Blue Jays drought ended in the 5th inning thanks to a 5 run rally aided by multiple doubles deep into the outfield.
The Reds answered back with multiple hits in the bottom of the 5th capped off by a stand up triple from Xavier Ross which cleared the bases. Blue Jays left fielder made an impressive throw home with the catcher just narrowly missing Hank Lee at the plate.
Tai Ryker Engelman closed the game in the 6th with support from the team's first 6-3 double play from Austin Fondiller.
The Reds will continue on to play in District 12's Tournament of Champions this weekend at Balzer field on Saturday at 10am.
