Tournament
Team
Selection Information
General
Information:
There will be two tournament teams
for each age group: 8/9, 9/10, 10/11, and 11/12. Teams for each age group will be
named National and American. Any players from Majors who are selected to a
Tournament Team will be placed based on their division of play (National or
American) during the regular season.
For specific details about the
Tournament Team selection process for any age group, click on one of the links,
below, or scroll down this page.
8/9's and 9/10's
- Players will vote for their peers.
- AAA players
will be asked to vote for 6 tournament team candidates within their own
division and age group. AAA divisions (National, American) will be
determined by the league in which the MLB namesake plays.
-
Players nominated by their peers will automatically be listed on the slate of
tournament team candidates.
- Team Managers will nominate players.
- Each
AAA manager will be allowed to nominate tournament team caliber players from
his/her team.
- AA
Managers will be asked if they have an 8 or 9 year old with phenomenal talent
who should be considered for the 8/9 team. No AA player will be considered
for the 9/10 team. Tournament Team Managers and league representatives will
watch the nominated 8 and 9 year olds during league play to assess their
talent. These players will be added to the nomination list for 8/9
selections.
- Combined, the peer-nominated and Manager
nominated groups should create a pool of 30 to 35 top-quality players for each
age group. Please note that not all nominated players will be
selected to play on a Tournament Team.
- The
Tournament Team Managers will select their teams.
- The
American and National Tournament Team Managers will select their teams from
the list of nominated players. Each AAA Manager (or a coach representative if
the Manager is unavailable) will be present to assist in the selection
process, but ultimately the decision will be up to the Tournament Team
Manager.
- If a
Tournament Team Manager wishes to select a player from the lower age
group, 80% of the AAA Managers must agree that the selected player is far
superior to any remaining candidate from the upper age group.
- The
9/10 and 8/9 teams will be selected (in that order) on a date that will be
determined after the 10/11 and 11/12 teams have been selected.
- Selected players will be notified.
- Players selected for the 8/9 team will be
notified on June 7th; those selected for the 9/10 team will be notified on
June 13th.
10/11's
and 11/12's
- Players will vote for their peers.
-
Each 11 or 12-year-old Majors player
will vote for 6 candidates in his division (National or American) and age
group.
-
The top 6 vote-getters from each
division and age group will be placed on the Tournament Team (for their age
and division).
- Majors Managers will nominate and vote for players.
-
Majors Managers will nominate
additional players (by age group), who they feel have had "All Star"
seasons. This may include players that they determine should play w/ the
upper age group.
-
Majors Managers will vote on the
nominated players. The top 4 vote-getters in each division will be added to
their respective tournament teams.
-
If a player from a lower age group is
selected, 80% of the Majors Managers within the same division must agree
that the player is far superior to any remaining candidate from the upper
age group.
- The Tournament Team Managers will select the remaining 2 or 3
players for their teams.
- If a
player from a lower age group is among the 2 or 3 remaining players to be
selected, 80% of the Majors Managers within the same division must agree
that the player is far superior to any remaining candidate from the upper
age group.
- Selected players will be notified.
- Players selected for the 10/11 team will be notified on June 13th; those
selected for the 11/12 team will be notified on June 15th.
