LGLL Tournament Teams

2009 Age-Group Tournament Calendar
We expect to get this information in early 2009 and will post it as soon as it's available.  The 2009 dates will likely be very similar to the 2008 dates, which are shown in the following table:

Note:  Any children who are selected to play on Tournament Teams MUST meet LGLL's participation requirement.  LGLL requires that players participate in ALL Tournament games and 75% of Tournament Team practices.  Any players who do not meet this requirement, will immediately be removed from their respective teams.  No fees will be refunded.
 

In which tournaments does LGLL participate?
We participate in Tournament of Champions (TOC), a district-wide tournament for the top teams at the AAA (Minors) and Majors levels.  LGLL will send two teams to each of the TOC tournaments, based on the teams' season records.

In addition to TOC, our district (District 12) host tournaments for players in Majors and Minors, based on age.  The LGLL Board has decided to align our all-star team ages with the National Little League recommendations.  The Board's objective is to field the strongest teams with the most deserving players, at every age group.  Two teams will be formed for each of the following age groups:

• 11 and 12-year-olds (Majors)
• 10 and 11-year-olds
• 9 and 10-year-olds
• 8 and 9-year-olds.

The winner of all the District age-group tournaments (with the exception of the 8/9-year-old tournament) advance to a Sectional tournament and the winner there advances to the Division tournament.  This is the last tournament for all but Majors.  The Majors Divisional champion advances to Regionals, and the winner of the Regional tournament earns a place in the Little League World Series.

Teams begin practicing for District 12 Tournaments in early to mid-June and all the District Tournaments are generally over by mid-July.  In 2008, LGLL will enforce strict participation requirements for its tournament team members.  Please review the eligibility information, below, for detailed participation requirements.

Tournament Team Eligibility Requirements
Tournament teams have strict participation requirements related to practice and game attendance.  Players who are selected for Tournament Teams, but who do not meet the participation requirements will immediately be removed from their Tournament Teams.  In addition, Tournament Team Managers must collect, and have approved, eligibility documentation for each player.  No child will be allowed to participate in a Tournament without providing the correct documentation. Click here for eligibility details.
